Understanding what is “normal” for your horse is a vital part of monitoring changes to their health. The imaging service I provide may help build an objective picture of your horse’s norm and provides a non-invasive way to monitor them throughout their lifetime, helping you and your equine professionals.
Baseline imaging is a valuable tool for any horse owner whether you are competing at the top level, a happy hacker or bringing horses back into work after a well-earned holiday or an injury. The principle of baseline imaging is to collect reliable data that can be archived for future comparisons. Thermography is a test of physiology/function and is extremely helpful when used to monitor changes over time, this can help to identify future injuries and signs of disease at an early stage.
What’s involved in a baseline package?
A baseline package is a collection of Full Body scans post to exercise (after exercise). No veterinarian interpretation is included in this package so if you have concerns for your horse's health, such as lameness or a poor performance problem you will require my standard imaging package.
When is the best time to collect baseline data?
Collecting data when your horse is healthy and sound provides a good scientific basis for future monitoring.
Where will imaging take place?
Imaging can take place at your own facilities, as long as you have to required imaging environment, a lined stable that can be shut off from environmental factors (sun, wind, rain etc) with no skylights, or a similar like structure lined with material that does not attract heat. Alternatively, if you don’t have the required facilities I can contact your chosen veterinarian practice and ask the use their premise.
The technology is non-invasive and sedation free. I can normally visit your facility to collect data and imaging is stress-free for most horses. Once data has been collected you will be able to use the technology to assist future diagnosis, evaluate performance, monitor health and identify numerous conditions.
